Project Cost Control Lead

TCB Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established Western Australian engineering and construction business delivering integrated solutions across the resources, construction, energy and infrastructure sectors.
With continued business growth and a strong project pipeline, our client is seeking an experienced Project Cost Control Lead to establish and drive best-practice project controls across the business. This is a key leadership role supporting Project Managers, Operations Managers and Senior Leadership by delivering accurate commercial reporting, forecasting and financial insights that drive informed decision-making and project success.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of project controls across multiple projects, ensuring consistent reporting, forecasting and cost management while partnering closely with operational teams to improve commercial outcomes.
You will play a pivotal role in identifying risks early, monitoring project performance and supporting the successful delivery of profitable projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead weekly project reporting across all active projects.
- Develop and maintain Cost to Complete (CTC) reporting.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project forecasts.
- Analyse project costs, productivity and financial performance.
- Monitor project margins and identify commercial risks.
- Provide meaningful project performance commentary to senior leadership.
- Manage variation and claims reporting.
- Coordinate project cost reporting across the business.
- Support Project Managers and operational leaders with budgeting, forecasting and commercial management.
- Identify trends and opportunities to improve project profitability.
- Develop reporting dashboards and enhance project controls processes.
- Manage and coordinate cost control structures.
- Work closely with Finance, Operations and Project Management teams to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Support monthly financial reporting and forecasting cycles.
About You
To be successful, you will bring:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Project Controls, Cost Control, Commercial Analysis or Project Finance.
- Degree qualification in Commerce, Finance, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Construction Management.
- Experience using systems such as Workbench, Pronto, SAP, Oracle, Power BI or similar.
- Previous experience within mining, shutdowns, engineering or construction projects.
- Strong understanding of project cost reporting, forecasting and earned value principles.
- Proven experience preparing Cost to Complete (CTC) reports.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- A proactive approach with exceptional attention to detail.
